Cataract Surgery in Denton

Cataract surgery is an operation to remove your eye’s lens when it is cloudy. During cataract surgery, your surgeon replaces your eye’s original lens with a new, artificial lens, often called an intraocular lens or an IOL, that restores clarity to your vision. All surgeries have risks; however, cataract surgery is one of the safest and most common surgical procedures performed.

Considering cataract surgery at Advanced Eye Care Center? Our doctors, Lawrence A. Shafron, M.D., F.A.C.S., and Rodgers L. Eckhart, M.D. along with their team will design an individualized treatment plan personalized to you.

How Does Cataract Surgery Work?

We perform a minimally invasive, small incision, no-stitch cataract surgery called phacoemulsification (“phaco”) surgery. First, the eye is numbed with anesthesia. Then a tiny incision is made in the eye to make room for a small ultrasonic probe. This probe breaks up or emulsifies the cloudy lens into tiny pieces. The pieces are then suctioned out through the probe.

After the cloudy lens has been removed, a new artificial lens, or IOL, is implanted in the eye. With the recent advance in foldable IOL’s, artificial lenses can be implanted through the same small incision from the phaco procedure. Recovery after cataract surgery is generally quick and usually occurs within only a few days. Most patients have improved vision soon after surgery, and your sight may continue to improve for several days or weeks.

Advanced Technology Lense vs. Basic Standard Lense

If choosing a cataract surgery, it’s essential that you understand your optins of intraocular lens implants. Advanced Eye Care Center offers a variety of Advanced Lens Options, each of which has its own unique benefits.

Due to the limited benefit of an ordinary monofocal lens implant, many patients choose our advanced lenses, such as Vivity and PanOptix. These lenses give patients back the sight they had when they were younger and making them have better vision than ever before.

Advanced Technology Lenses

Advanced Eye Care Center offers a variety of choices tailored to your needs. In your cataract surgery consultation, our eye surgeons will evaluate and discuss which lens implant is right for you and your needs. Discussing your lifestyle and hobbies an important part of the process in order to get the best IOL to fit your wants and needs.
